Escambia County has selected HDR Engineering, Inc. to conduct a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study on State Road 173 (Blue Angel Parkway) between SR 292 (Sorrento Road) and SR 30 (US Highway 98). The PD&E study will document the need for improvements, specifically, the proposed widening of SR 173 from a two-lane rural undivided roadway, to a four-lane divided arterial. The proposed roadway changes will provide capacity for future growth and for hurricane evacuation. The study will identify safety and drainage improvements needed to accommodate the new roadway while minimizing impacts to the surrounding environment.
